Inhabiting the Hinterland

Area Map. Makes clear what area we investigated from the first place and where we decided to place our proposal.
Every-day-life Map. Talking to eight people we investigated how people dwelled in our area. Many people went to the city of Umeå for dwelling, making Vännäsby a satelite city to Umeå.
Road Vs Street. We defined a road as a barrier, but a street as a place to meet. In the left picture we show the current situation with the high way "Blå Vägen" on the top, continuing down south as "Kungsstensvägen" that is dividing the two clusters like a thick wall. We wanted to change the character of Kungstenssvägen to a street, illustrated in the right picture.
Site Map. This map illustrates what we wanted to create; a street instead of a road, putting down the speed naturally by the dynamic turns around on of the two kindergartens, creating a green path, a park, between them. Our housing proposal are coloured in red and purple, where the two shades of red are made in detail and the purple is for a possible further expansion.
Car Diagram. This diagram is showing were to park your car in our area, some in the streets, some in the houses.
