Blindfield
Collaborative Art Installation
EMPAC, TROY, NEW YORK
Blindfield was a soundscape installation that took place in a studio in EMPAC in coordination with
Amsterdam-based sound artist Fransisco López. It consists of over one hundred panels, thirty-two of which contained transducers, transforming the panels into speakers. The panels, ten feet in length, were arranged at heights between one and ten feet off the ground. The panels are composed of a translucent fabric between two mdf boxes, the bottom of which has lights that shine on the floor. The overall experience of walking through the dark room with barely visible panels and sound coming from all directions is overwhelming and enjoyable.
