Semiotic is a user friendly and easily accessible interface that aims to empower sign language users by enabling them to overcome communication challenges through portable technology. This application will allow users with speech difficulties to create and use customized libraries of hand gestures and signs that express the domain-specific concepts (words, symbols) that are needed to discuss their topics of study with instructors, trainers, experts, and peers. It also gives those with speech difficulties the ability to use general-purpose sign languages (e.g., the British Sign Language(BSL), American Sign Language(ASL), and others) to talk about everyday issues and situations, personalizing the language to take into account regional variations and individual preferences or needs.
