Haroon Khalid is a Lahore-based writer working on themes of identity, religion, and minorities in Pakistan. Beyond the 'Other' is his upcoming book, for which this book jacket was commissioned. He has previously worked on A White Trail and writes for The Friday Times.
The concept behind the cover was to combine and create a collage of all the rich and vibrant religious motifs and artworks found locally. It comprises of parts of architectural designs from the shrines of Sufi saints to posters of Hindu deities and even Buddhist and Jain Scriptures.
The aim as with any book jacket design was to make it slightly stand out among other books
on the sombre subject which are usually plain and without much ornamentation.
