Sometimes you hear a song that means much more to you than any other song you'd previously heard. The first time I became aware of this feeling of inexplicable, mood moving was the first time I heard James Brown's "I Feel Good." In that moment, I could not imagine feeling anything other than, well.. good. This is how I feel about Austin based trio, Khruangbin.
There is no way to describe what the band dubs "Thai Funk" other than to say I have no idea what Thai Funk is, but I'm perfectly okay being in love with a musical mystery, and I'm not at all inclined to go looking for answers.
After catching Khruangbin's sold out Rough Trade show in Brooklyn, I woke up inspired. Because I took no videos, I used a simple, i phone shot I took that night and used photoshop to make a fun .gif and short video to one of their tracks, which was shared on their Facebook page.
