Deary

Deary is an electronic diary based on a new type of interaction with the user. The project’s aims are:
make the activity of writing something simple and fast, and free, eliminating the schematizations and the constrains that are present in the diaries until now on the market; connect the written thoughts to each other and to rework them to promote change of view and open perspectives unexplored until that moment; gradually lead the person to express himself and to become aware of his feelings.
As regards the interface, the icons have been reduced in number to give more space and importance to the physical elements. The desire is to create an electronic object that makes its functions clear and to make commands faster. So there is only one endless page where the user can write freely without limits.
As regards the shape, Deary has a 7 inch screen, framed between two shells (in polycarbonate) and a series of material objects. The physical elements that compose Deary are: five wheels for five virtual windows: the angle of the text, the color, the emotions, the key words and the mood; two lateral buttons used to activate Bluetooth, NFC and the virtual keyboard; three keys that rework past thoughts following respectively semantic structure, structure for key words, temporal structure (in this way, Deary reveals to the user new perspectives, reallocates thoughts showing connections which until that moment had remained hidden); the pen, only it can turn “Deary” on.
From these ideas and studies Deary was born. Deary combines the traditional diary’s features with advanced technologies, creating an unexpected, and educational, object of affection.
