CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO
Departing from commonly used timepiece materials, Lune strives to evoke a sense of surprise through integrating a concrete watch face.

INSPIRED BY THE MOON
Lune draws inspiration from the moon through both form and aesthetic, harnessing the natural aesthetic properties of concrete.

PROCESS
Sketching was used in conjunction with testing different mixes and consistencies of concrete to discover the possibilities of the material. Including epoxy in the mix allowed for higher strength and the opportunity for finer details and a thinner wall thickness.

TIME FLIES
Marking the passage of time, the hour and minute hand eclipse every hour and five minutes.

MATERIALS
To solve the problem of fastening the components to concrete, an aluminum frame is molded directly into the concrete face. The cone knobs on the frame add a structural element to the concrete while also allowing screws to fasten the quartz movement and straps to the frame.
