Tube Cube
An exploration in metal

This steel and aluminum cube was created using a series of press fit cylinders from solid stock. By turning each to within .001 of an inch of the next layer and forcing the two together with an arbor press I formed a solid block of alternating metal. Using a rotary head on the mill I cut away the faces of the cube.  Gun blue was applied to the steel to achieve the protective black finish. The leather case is used to protect the surfaces and also serves as a stand.
