Battle Of The Cans - A Street Art Competition

The concept of this is to help raise awareness for teenagers ages 12 – 17 about the alternative forms of art out there and this is done by form of a event called battle of the cans.  This would be an event where schools compete against other schools in a alternative art competition once a year where the teams have a set time to produce a piece of art using alternative styles of art, like markers, spray paint and ink.

The aim is to get teenagers more interested in art and take them away from the stereotypical idea that all art is traditional art.
I also made a poster campaign, which was a total of 3 posters, the first two had traditional artwork on them, portrait paintings and landscape paintings with the event logo in the bottom corner along with the tagline “this is art…” along with just the web address of the events webpage.  The third poster however also had the same tagline but it had graffiti in the background to say that those traditional painting are art, but so is this! Along with the tagline and logo on this final poster I added more information about the event, encouraging them to get in touch and take part.
Also to run alongside the event I set up social media pages and came up with the idea that people at the event or working up to the event could upload photos and tag the with the hash tag BOTC2014 which would enable other students to share artwork and ideas for the event.
I also worked on the actual event in a big way, I first of designed the idea of a custom shaped marquee to hold the event in and added branding to this and designed actual work board for the pupils.
Once I had the brand I went on to develop custom clothing, which would be sold at the event and would be given out of prizes.
For the event I designed a information pack which would be what the schools asked for to show the students and see it they were interested in entering and I kept brand consistency throughout using a brick wall graphic in the background of items.  I also designed application forms for students and pupils which each had different questions relating to the event.
