Recycling and Waste Management 2009

Data Collection
In 2012, when i started this project, recycling was something about the attributes, but not the real actions. There were lots of recycling containers, but they just seemed to be clean from the outside. I did not even had to look inside, as beauty of various s**t was glad to meet me everywhere i went. I appreciate human kind and they efforts to try pushing the impossible sometimes ! Look, how hard they try to plunge the bag of trash through the squared hole ! And i believe it takes lots of creativity to throw the bag out of window rather than just walk down the stairs !
Well i had to find out the reasons of this ego-centered thinking, as it really impressed me. I thought there should be something wrong with a system, but when i started to look for a data of how the central trash management works in Lithuania, i could hardly find anything. The only thing i relied on was Green Dot packaging waste directive. That did not really satisfy me, so i just went on my blindness.
Sketching
One thought was nagging me from the inside- is it all about the habits of the human kind ? If yes, children are much more keen on adopting new things. The older one gets, the less he wishes to change his wealth-being. With this mind scourging my brain cells i started a random sketching, until it evolved ...
I was looking for various touch points that could have unconscious relations to the existing containers. That was colors and different shapes which were used for the holes. However, i did not want it to be a single bin. I wanted a character in the playground, an attractive method but not the coercive tool. So i ruthlessly left my designs behind me and started again with a form hunt.
OK now. So I could pull myself back- colors and shapes were OK to use on the new objects. Dialog hint on the "object-ed" mouth was a stimulus to label products with a meaning. I wanted to say "I DO RECYCLE" while steering into this big throat. And i did. I used my imagination translator and came up with these four slogans "I DO GLASS", "I DO PAPER", "I DO PLASTIC", "I DO BIO". My characters spoke up ! so i could take a nap.
Then... some technical issues of exploitation, magnetic joints, material and vuala ! i am finally done.
