During the mass migration of Refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya to Europe there were a significant number of children who were traveling alone.  They had lost family members both in their countries of origin as well as on their way to Europe, some losing loved ones on the final crossing from Turkey to Greece.  In many of the camps and along the roads in Greece, Turkey, Italy, France and many other Eastern European countries these children appeared and then disappeared with alarming regularity.  European agencies have placed the estimated number of unaccompanied child migrants and refugees to have gone missing at 10 000 although the true number is thought to be far greater.  These are just some of the images of a handful of children I met and spoke with about their experiences between 2015 and 2018.
