What will happen when Chinese traditional ink brushed painting meets metropolitan New York City? 1000 years ago, enjoyable ink brush painting has became the ancestor of Chinese traditional painting. It features  “near solid and far empty”, and color changing is implicit, subtle. At the same time,  it has enriched artistic conceptions. Compare to enjoyable Chinese ink painting, the only approximate 200-year-old photography is a visual expression of objectivity and reality. My work makes these two extreme expressions—westerns photography and eastern ink painting to be as one and I chose to use New York City’s architectures as the main subject matter. All of these things are meant for creating a new artistic visual expression. As today that western and eastern culture are constantly blending, in the back of what art presenting and re-presenting, traditional artistic expressions constantly become wider, methods of expressions are changing as well. In the communication between western and eastern cultures, how to continue and develop traditional cultures, and how to explore and create new cultures, are the questions which always pursued by artists, therefore “Western success—Eastern Achievement” is human’s ever thinking.
