As you know, Pepsi and Coke dominate the soda market. And if you're bored of those two, there's Sprite. So for 7-Up to compete they needed a strategy to stand out. And that strategy was to not be thought of as a soda at all. The 7-Up campaign was about being different. 

Really, really different. So Drink it for Yourself is a campaign for the younger generation to be themselves. To not follow the trend. To do things their own way and let others accepts you for who you are. Drink 7-Up for yourself.
