Brewing your own beer means you can make whatever you want. "Black Mamba" was born even before its recipe. The beer is inspired by its own name, which means it could only be a very strong ale, a tribute to a very dangerous snake. "Black Mamba" was, by the time it was first developed, Cervejaria Augustinus' strongest ale, an Imperial Stout with 15% ABV.

Inspired by traditional american tattoo, the snake looks menacing and dangerous – it's the most venomous snake in the world after all. The brown and light gray with black background resemble the label design of traditional whiskys, since Black Mamba is aged in scotish oak barrels formerly used to age whisky.
