Edison's Dolls is a fictional musical thriller based off of Thomas Edison’s emotional relationship with his invention of the first talking doll. Within each doll he placed inside it a teeny Edison phonograph with a wax cylinder and a recording of a nursery rhyme. Although these were the first dolls able to say mutilple words, within a month disgruntled customers started returning most of the dolls to the factory. Edison, later, voiced what was perhaps because "The voices of the little monsters were exceedingly unpleasant to hear".
