Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center

Project Objective
The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center strives to educate the public
through tours and programs about the importance of wolves in our environment.
They also rescue displaced wolves, providing them with a safe sanctuary and the highest level of care. The design should convey a sense of responsibility for conservation and preservation of not only wolves, but also the land and eco-systems that support other forms of wildlife. Overall, the objective is to grab the attention of the public, evoke enthusiasm, and provoke viewers to take action through
volunteering, donations, or spreading awareness.

I am focusing heavily on advertising and merchandise because as a non-profit, these areas can often go neglected even though they are imperative for funding.

Research
Other wolf reservations and sanctuaries vary greatly in design. The silhouette of a wolf is quite powerful, and many organizations utilize one in their logo. Dark greens are often prominent, however color scheme seems to vary greatly depending on the organization’s geographical location. Most websites feature a large call-to-action button on the front page. This organization is located in the beautiful Divide, CO. The new design will feature dark blue and white. Vivid photography featuring bright colors from the region’s landscapes push the design to stand out and highlight the unique beauty of the region.

Target Market
Men and women of all ages, local to the Colorado area, interested in preservation, put effort into their communities, enjoy being outdoors, love animals, take time to volunteer, able to volunteer at least once a week, possibly good at speaking to groups of people, with groups of friends who are likeminded. Any income is acceptable, although we definitely want to reach viewers with a disposable income to encourage more donations.

Concept and Solution
The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center’s current webpage features purple and orange. Although these colors are attention-grabbing, they clash. The overall color scheme is quite dark. Instead, I am utilizing dark blue and white, along with vibrant photography of the local environment. The blue and white keep the viewer grounded. Ample white space provides room to breathe and focus on the information at hand. Blue is also a welcoming and sincere color. The goal is to keep the brand fresh and open.
