The brief was to design and develop a umbrella visual identity and support branding for a not-for-profit organisation serving the local community, supporting adults and older children with learning and physical disability. Creating the feeling of a warm, friendly, fun environment and that everyone is welcome.

Using the ‘smilie’ element developed from emoticons used in social media and texting, to create a strong and fun umbrella brand, incorporating several of the support groups within it’s main brand logo. The creation of a secondary brand logo for the individual support and session groups is made possible by using the ‘Smilies Periodic Table’. This simple device is used to pick a specifically designed individual logo which is to be used with any of the support groups found within The Burton Street Foundation. The graphic identity is of a friendly, warm and welcoming nature, developing a fun, bright creative to emphasise the relaxed and informal mood of the business and life within the facilities. The use of the large, bright “smilie” element is a bold statement, putting forward The Burton Street Foundation as fun and friendly organisation, serving the community. Specialising in supporting adults and older children with learning and physical disability, also offering a very wide range of other activities for the general public.
