GOOD BEGINNING BECOMES GOOD END
Controlling emotions are a very important, especially for office workers who often work under high levels of stress. This project's goal was to relieve some of that stress through a humidifying aroma diffuser, so that users can have a better start to their day. Boon is an aroma essential oil diffuser that decreases the user's stress levels and allows them to move away from their seat to stretch or exercise within their workplace. By working to reduce psychological and physical stress, users can achieve a better work experience during their work time.
HOW DO YOU RELIEVE STRESS?
40% of all work related illnesses are caused by the workplace stress. However, there aren't any products that successfully encourage users to physically and psychologically reduce or relieve that stress.
SYNC'D WITH YOUR SMARTPHONE
Boon can be sync'd with smartphones for power, scent, and sharing controls. Users can easily customize their favorite scent and save those recipes through an available mobile application. Moreover, office workers can remotely turn on their device before they arrive at their workplace to enjoy their scent within the space.
BOON APPLICATION
For the mobile application, we created a simple structure layout for intuitive navigation. The use of a black and gold color palette has been used to match with the physical product. Various functions of Boon are operated by the smart phone application. Boon can be turned on and off remotely, and can be set up before arriving at the office.
SIMPLE AND CLEAN
In order to diffuse an aromatic oil, there should be a separate water container. Aroma diffusers usually have water containers on the bottom, however, for Boon, users do not have to disassemble the body in order to refill the water. Users can simply pour the water from the top in order to refill the water.
EFFICIENT AIRFLOW
There are four individual holes for humidifying in various directions. The screen on the top surface shows the sign as the humidifying starts. Users can adjust the level of humidification through the mobile application.
WATER REFILL INDICATOR
The white light blinking indicates the amount of water inside the water tank for oil diffusing, and shows when to refill the water as the light starts to blink. This task encourages users to take the time to physically move out of their current task momentarily – a methodology to have users to take short breaks.
HIGH CO2 LEVEL INDICATOR
Green lights starts to blink when CO2 levels become too high inside the office. This can allow users to open the window for air circulation. Often times, psychological stress can be caused by a lack of air circulation. Through this CO2 level warning sign, users can prevent air contamination more often.
USB CHARGING
Boon is powered by a rechargeable battery system, allowing users to carry Boon from place to place. Charging can be done through the USB port behind Boon. USB port charging allows users to charge anywhere with a USB port, such as a laptop computer.
