This screenshot is a preliminary artboard in Illustrator. I designed the background circles, midline, and points. I chose bright colors to separate and coordinate each food groups with the pie graph used at the top of the infographic. These colors were also selected for the fonts of the category's names. I used food clip art I purchased from cutesy clips to display for an assortment of foods from each food group, onto a white circle with a silver border resembling a plate.
.
I wanted the superhero image I used as a pop-up, let children know, it's a "super cool thing" to eat healthy. This image pops up as you roll over the statement , "Eating healthy makes the body strong"! I chose images that show children who represent a multicultural audience and who were close in age.
After choosing images, I created intreactive button which roll open to reveal the images beside each statement.
Other images such as the plate above were chosen to make the idea of good food choices appealing and fun.
Additional popups at the bottom of the infographic were created to give learners information about the nutritional value of the foods in each group. I created colored buttons with stars. When learner rolls over the button a panel of information is revealed. I also added a link to the USDA's myPlate.gov website. The learner can go there to play games and to read more about healthy foods choices.
