IRREVƎRSIBLƎ - Experimental identity

Irreversibe is a 2002 french film directed by argentinian Gaspar Noe, starring Mónica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel and Albert Dupontel. It follows the phrenetic odyssey undertaken by two men seeking revenge.
It's a reverse chronology film, that caused controversy for it's graphic violence scenes. It's technical aspects are chaotic camera movements, rapid succession of images and the predominance of warm colors in the photography.
Brand
It was decided to base the brand on the film's most relevant and distinctive aspects: It's highly graphic content of violence and it's non-linear narrative.
For the fist one, strictly manual techniques were used: The printed word was ripped and cutted, cutting the pieces in a specific form so that their regrupment suggests that the origin of the rupture is a crack at the center of the word, which also priduces an axis for the brand. To capitalize the secod aspect, two E's were flipped horizontaly.
As for the typography, the Univers font family in it's extra black variant was chosen given it's weight and overall strength, aligned to the film's nature.
Titles
The axis for the titles was to exploit the film's technical aspects: Chaotic camera movements, confusing and dazzling images in rapid succession and neon lights. The chosen technique was stop motion, and a auditive collage was also created to complement and capitalize these aspects.
Press Book
For the film's press book, it was decided to optate for an unconventional format, as the films narrative structure. The book is composed by two tri-fold spreads and one two-fold spread assembled. As a result, order of pages and reading switches from left-right to right-left, and to up-down.
Three visual scripts were made with the aim of semanticize the dialogues of the most important scenes in the film, capturing, through typographic resources, sensations and emotions present in each scene and making them visible.
