retrofitting smart systems in an existing building

This report will include a case study about the electrical power department
in Cairo university faculty of engineering. We are targeting to study the
building according to the following methodology:
1. Visiting the building
2. Identifying the main problems
3. Observing the design phase of the building
4. Surveying the number of students and energy consumption
5. Question airing and interviewing some of the undergraduate
electrical power students and the postgraduates.
6. Data gathering and analysis
7. Searching for solutions and smart new technologies to solve our
problems
8. Microscopic researching about these technologies
9. Selecting the best techniques for our buildings
10. Applying the new technologies on our building
11. Developing the surrounding exterior area of the building
12. Experimenting the modifications we had made
Finally this research should teach us to retrofit smart new technologies to existing
building in order to reach optimum energy performance, decrease the carbon
emissions and increase sustainability.
