Overview
As a Ubiquitous Computing project, Bikaventure is a proposal of casual biking serendipity. In the paradigm of calm computing, we have all kinds of applications in our hand to navigate to as long as we have a clear goal, address, keyword in mind. But a casual biking in the Sunday afternoon is different, you may want to bike to an unknown place that gives you surprises, you may want to add a little bit of serendipity for your over-scheduled life. In short, our app Bikaventure, which is based on Android platform, is aimed to use destination pictures to facilitate your biking experience.
Design Rationale
The keywords for this app are "adventure" and "serendipity", so the entire look and feel of this app must be simple, and promote random discovery. To make this idea happening, we use large pictures on the homepage of the app with only two buttons, in the exploring page, we make the searching function weak, trying to maximize the space for users to use fingers to look around. Besides navigation and pedometer function, we also enabled users to take phone within this app, and continue to explore surrounding destinations even during their biking.
My Responsibility
In this project, I was responsible for interaction design, graphical design and interface implementation and social features development for Android platform. It was a 3 months projects and the app will be in android app store soon.

The Interaction Design of Bikaventure, we think that Picture is the answer to serendipity and Ubicomp of uncertainty, so we devote a large space for destination display.
The map/navigation design and the conclusion screen for users to review their biking activity and share to social network.
