The DELUGE/DELUSION Project

a b o u t
All around the Earth, several civilisations of diverse cultures share a strikingly similar story –
that the Earth once experienced a global catastrophic flood, and wiped out the human race, save for one family.

Amazingly, more than 500 flood stories exist in diverse civilisations in the world, and many are still being shared today.
An interesting fact about the flood narratives is – though they have slight nuances in their storylines,
an overarching common storyline can still be observed throughout.

So why are there so many stories about this great flood?
Are these narratives merely mythological,
or could the overwhelming flurry of narratives surrounding a great flood
suggest that there may be more than meets the eye?
This age-old mystery points us to a deeper question that we need to ask ourselves – What exactly is truth?

DELUGE/DELUSION aims to spur its target audience to gain awareness of this intriguing phenomenon that the world’s civilisations share a similar story – and question if there is credibility to this phenomenon, to make them desire to develop an inquisitive eye for what is mythological and what is historical. To trigger them to embark on a personal quest for truth – that eventually will flow out beyond this phenomenon to other facets of their lives.

The novel invites readers to enjoy the stories in 3 ways: By reading all three narratives simultaneously, reading each narrative individually, or to expand the book, revealing an extended panorama and a bird's eye view of all three stories from beginning to end.

The Sediments' Chest aims to provide a factual and evidential side of the ubiquitous flood stories around the world.
Using the Chest, the user takes on the role of a voyager of the unknown, to discover a mixed array of articles on geological, archaeological, linguistic and historical findings on evidences which can either point towards or away from the possibility of a great or worldwide flood in human history.

The user is encouraged to explore, discover and question, and is challenged to go beyond scratching the surface and seek for underlying truths. Sediments' Chest serves as a medium to enable users to do the symbolic act of searching and discovering.

The symbolic act of searching and discovering leaves the user with a whet appetite for inquisitiveness towards the mysteries of the great flood, hopefully spurring him/her to actively discover the truth behind the bizarre phenomenon.

At the end of the day, it is the spirit of curiosity and digging deeper beneath surfaces which the DELUGE/DELUSION Project aims to ignite in the young adolescent.
