Mid-noon time, a reminder of silence, of returning back to the nature self, a sacred time, a ritual, a state of safety and serenity.

This is the first dress I design for Apparel Development I: Introduction to Draping class. The techniques I use include bias cutting, French seaming, and hand-rolling hem on Crepe de Chine silk. Because of bias-cut fabric's stretchy nature, the dress has a facing lined with bias-cut silk organza for interfacing inside, and the invisible zipper closure behind is pinned onto bias-cut silk organza strips to stabilize, then hand-sewn. I also hand-dye the silk in this project. The illustration of the dress is printed on silk organza then hand-sewn onto the yellow panel.
Many thanks to Nghia D Quach, Hang Nguyen Phi, and Thu Anh Ho for making this happen.
