The structure is based on the "Frida stool" by Zanocchi & Starke, provided us in our first year workshop course. Starting from an existing minimal design, our task has been creating and re-thinking about the saet without changing dimentions and the basic circular shape.
After the breef, I've decided to focus on the re-utilization of old Cds and DvDs so as to exploit the iridescent and shimmering surface. The material provides a range of rainbow colurs, and the colour changes in relation with the light source and position.
The discs are cutted into geometrical irregular tassels and hold together with white plaster, a zero waste mosaic that enrich the wooden structure
