The brief was to create advertising material (a programme ,A5 flyer & 2 A3 posters) for the play "Shall Roger Casement Hang", which is running during the Tron Theatre's Mayfesto 2016 event
The play by Peter Arnott marks 100 years since The Easter Rising & deals with themes of conflict, slander & rebellion. There were so many themes I could have run with to build a concept around but eventually I chose 'conflict'.
I first had thoughts about gun powder and how I could use powder paint to try & create some kind of explosion effect to photograph, this led to using pieces of fabric swirling and pulling apart in mind air & then to the idea of trying to create a flag that is pulling apart and coming back together.
I did initially try to shoot the photos myself but wasn't able to get the image I had in mind, so for the final images I used a photo merge of a few different images.
