This "set chair" was designed for a one week design-build assignment, as a part of a larger studio project designing a film school. The task was to design and create a chair using only one 1/2" thick 4' x 8' birch plywood sheet, and without any mechanical fasteners. Designed to be used in the quickly changing environment of film sets, the chair is lightweight, easy to move, and readily stored when not in use. The chair is held together using 4 wedges, and can be dis-assembled and packed flat. It was made using a combination of 2D CNC routing and manual processes. The pattern on the chair was designed to match the facade of the Film Arts School.
