Per il numero monografico sul tema "Pubblicare" della rivista Progetto Grafico, edita dall'AIAP, ho scritto un articolo dal titolo "Provos. Controcultura studiata a corte", sull'esperienza dei Provos, un gruppo anarchico attivo ad Amsterdam tra il 1965 ed il 1967.
Partendo da happening atti a sensibilizzare la popolazione riguardo temi politici e ambientali, i Provos ottennero l'appoggio dei cittadini, formularono i cosiddetti 'piani bianchi' e riuscirono persino a conquistare un seggio in Consiglio Comunale.
La stampa autoprodotta, parte di una comunicazione fuori dagli schemi, ebbe un ruolo fondamentale per la diffusione delle loro istanze; proprio per questo a causa dei volantini (Provokatie) e soprattutto della rivista Provo gli attivisti vennero spesso arrestati.
Con le loro azioni il gruppo anarchico provocò delle discussioni fino ad allora impensabili nella conformista società olandese, influenzandone concretamente lo sviluppo e gettando le basi della controcultura europea.
For the special 'Publishing' issue of the review Progetto Grafico, published by AIAP, I wrote an article entitled "Provo. Counterculture Studied at Court", on the experience of Provos, an anarchic group active in Amsterdam between 1965 and 1967.
Starting from happening acts to raise awareness about environmental and political issues, the Provos gained the support of the citizens, they formulated the so-called 'white plans' and even managed to win a seat in the City Council.
Part of an out of the ordinary communication system, self-publishing had a fundamental role in circulating their demands; for this, because of the leaflets (Provokatie) and especially of the magazine Provo activists were often arrested.
By their actions the anarchist group provoked discussions previously unthinkable in the conformist Dutch society, tangibly influencing development and laying the foundations for a European counterculture.
