A tool to discover new music
Discover is a music player that encourages exploration of different music genres through todays streaming technologies, but pulls the experience away from the digital screen to a tactile user interface. Discover is a tangible interface for Spotify. Expand your musical horizon.
The indirect light underneath the Discover will give an indication to what genre is played.
When the checker is moved and placed again on the grey exploration area, music from a different genre will be played. This way, users can choose what type of music they want to listen to instead of choosing the exact music.
Discover was made for the subject "Prototyping Interactive Media" using an Arduino, lots of hall effect sensors, a magnet checker. The project is coded in Python and the Arduino language using a Python wrapper (PySpority) over the Spotify API.
