Experiments aside, it’s important that people don’t lose sight of the end objective. For that purpose, no one is more inspirational that Dieter Rams. Dieter Rams, through his design work, defines what focus is. Cutting down everyday appliances down to their most fundamental functions, he dictated a non intrusive, elegant design language which we still follow thirty to forty years later.

Rapid Prototyping is necessary for any fast moving startup. The inspiration for this comes from Pablo Picasso, who was always quick to break icons in the real world down to its most fundamental concept. The above poster is an ode to his famous bull breakdown – a process that clearly demonstrated the man’s genius.

While the limitations of the platform are ever present, within bounds of the constraints, it is imperative that wild ideas must be encouraged. The above poster is therefore an ode to Dali, because if there is anyone who truly embodies free spirit, it’s Salvador Dali.

Our high octane corporate speed demands that we make quick decisions, and concepts that may at first glance seem irrelevant to success may be discarded. However, if there is one thing that we can learn from Leonardo da Vinci is the value of deferring judgement on ideas. He worked hard on ideas, especially his engineering ideas, crafting and shaping them with care. His studio notes have been a great inspiration to many, especially how initially impractical concepts are shaped through the pages in to something that could be built and applied.

A cultural trait that is more important today is to build on top of the years of experience that we can find in the ideas around us. What has been made previously and has worked should definitely not dictate how things are built in the future, but should definitely be studied and be built upon as an example for the future to follow. The above poster is an ode to Ludwig van Beethoven, who built upon the classical works of Mozart and Haydn. Combining their works with his own unique thinking made an entirely new school of music, which was a transitional phase to 19th century romanticism. Romantics like Wagner and Mahler considered Beethoven a great influence.
