During four week course of audio visual instruments at Kolding School of Design wecreated visuals that interact in a live concert performance of 2Cellos.
2Cellos is a cello duo consisting of Croatian accomplished musicians Luka Sulic andStjepan Hauser, both having played the cello since childhood. They uploaded a celloversion of Smooth criminal by Michael Jackson and within just a few weeks video becamethe biggest sensation in history of classical and crossover music. By choosing them we wanted to point out their unique performance on the stage, theiremotions and passion for the music. After analysing their songs we selected “Hurt”originally from “Nine inch nails”. Song and lyrics are about pain and loneliness, sadness so as they interpretedit in their own way we also wanted to give the new version new meaning.

We transformed musical forms - musical stave into organic and geometrical shapes byusing different effects that randomly respond to the dynamic music . By growing andspreading the visuals on screen we wanted to create a positive message, opposite tooriginal track to induce optimistic sadness. As they are the only ones on stage the visuals have to be discrete and point out their music and performance instead of stealing attention.Therefore visuals highlight the emotions and feelings coming from bothplayers and combine auditory and visual stimulus.
