While traveling through Bukovina in the Moldavia region of Romania, I found these patterns that are traditionally given to almost every house and stable within the village. It fascinated me how every family personalizes their home and makes it its own. I managed to talk to all the people who were living in the houses depicted in the photographs, mostly about their lives and aspirations, but also about why they chose to decorate their homes in such a manner.
