Another fascinating project for Mocomi. I loved the idea of creating beautiful illustrations and making a visual dictionary. A super interesting way to learn new words.
And it gave me a chance to explore yet another new style for illustrations.
Groak - A word that means "to stare longingly at someone as they eat, hoping you'll be offered some food"
Cymotrichous - A long and kinda complicated way of saying "curly / wavy hair"
Guddle - A word that means "to fish with one's hands, usually from stones near the banks of a stream"
Komorebi - A beautiful Japanese word that refers to the sunlight filtering through trees.
Fard - Another word for face paint or makeup.
Petrichor - That awesome, earthy smell that accompanies first rains.
Oblivion - The state of being completely unaware of what's happening
Lagom - What Goldilocks wanted - Something that's not too much or too little, something that's just right.
Tidsoptimist - Someone who's habitually late because they think they have more time than they do. So basically me and most people I know.
Gokotta - To wake up early especially to hear birdsong or appreciate nature. I would've loved to be a person who does this.
Gattara - The Italian word for (Crazy?) cat lady, who feeds stray cats ♥
Panapoo - A funny sounding Hawaiian word that refers to the act of scratching one's head to remember something forgotten.
Pochemuchka - A person who asks too many questions. So basically all kids?
Gurfa - A handful of water
Torschlusspanik - The fear of running out of time to act.
Zhaghzhagh - That chattering of teeth - due to cold, or rage.
Tsundoku - Another japanese word. It refers to the unread library of books that just pile up on shelves and tables.
Cafune - A Portuguese word to describe the act of running fingers through someone's hair
Luftmensch - An Inuit word for a dreamer, or as they call it - "An air person"
Friolero - Spanish word for a person who is super sensitive to cold weather.
Gigil - A Filipino term for the overwhelming urge to pinch something because of its cuteness.
Hobbit - An imaginary, humanoid race of beings who are short, and have hairy feet.
Schadenfreude - A German word to describe pleasure derived from another person's misfortune.
Welter - An English word to describe a confused mass of turmoil
Iktsuarpok - Another Inuit word; this one describing the feeling of anticipation when you're waiting for something to arrive and keep checking to see if it's here.
