Uncut - Glassware Collection

UNCUT
Uncut is a five-piece mold blown tableware set. Each asymmetrical geometric form is produced using a custom steel fabricated mold. Three drinking glasses are blown clear, while the dinner and dessert bowl are made in white. The collection is inspired by RISD, Erfurt and Brown University’s Solar Decathlon Competition 2014 entry Techstyle Haus; an energy-efficient, solar powered house with an architectural skin made of textiles. Uncut creates the illusion of textiles in glass through the use of reticello, a technique referencing the historical relationship between the glass and lace industries in Venice, Italy.

Originally produced as a set of ten, displayed and used for juried dinners at the Solar Decathlon Europe Competition in Versailles, Uncut has now become an entity of its own— extending into other colors and, in some cases, performing as architectural units for sculptural works.
