Project Objective

The objective of this project was to create a stool using the woodworking techniques we have learned in the semester. The requirements were that it had to incorporate joinery, and be made at the right size for us to use in our studios. My stool is made out of red oak and walnut. It incorporates lap joints and mitre joints, and is measured to be approximately 24.5" tall.

1/6 scale model, balsa wood.                                                                               Full scale model, cardboard.

Each piece of the triangle is cut at either 69.9 degrees or 41.2 degrees, and jointed together with a lap joint.

A jig for the table saw was created to assist with cutting the sides at a 30 degree angle.

This is what it looked like with the initial glueup, and then with the seat attached, unoiled and unsanded.

Final outcome.
