When I was exploring Jakarta by trains I saw how many people living just near the railway tracks. There were many slums near the railway, kids were playing around… It was really surprising for me, so I decided to get off the the train and see by myself what kind of lifestyle people living there.
I spend almost one month shooting slums if this massive city. At first I didn’t know know what to expect , I wasn’t sure how locals of the slum area will welcome me. But then I made my first steps and started to take photos I was quite surprised that people welcomed me with really positive energy and big smiles. This made my experience shooting in slums really pleasant, although I also had to wade through all these garbage and dirt.
