Instructional Video Project

The audience for this video series project is any person interested in learning to tie a necktie using the complex balthus knot. I designed this video project to educate those in need, while taking a lighthearted step by step approach. It is my role as the designer to produce engaging video content that takes a mundane task and creates content that tells a story, so that the learner can relate it to their obstacle.
Here you will find the storyboard that I created to organize the project. The storyboard includes sequential still shots, shot list, an aerial view of the general set (lighting, mannequin, camera, etc.) as well as the music selection that I used to layover the final product.
For this project I not only performed in front of the camera, but also created the script for the project. The shot setup preparation I created included setting the lighting sources for multiple shot types and angles.  Additionally, I shot on location to capture the needed footage to tell a story.
Once I captured the video footage from multiple locations and angles, I imported the content into iMovie. Then I edited the footage accordingly in sequential order, while considering the best shot angle based on user experience. With the instructional footage complete, I then added the on location footage that I used to tell the story and maintain the engagement of the audience.
Once I finalized the video editing, I then imported the video footage into Garageband. With the video as a guide, I then performed and recorded the voice over for the instruction. With the voice over tracked, I then edited, adjusted and positioned the tracks accordingly and laid in the music track.
