'Squaring the Sphere'

The concept of this installation is based on the sequence of (economic) growth and decay in Utica City. Every nine minutes the installation turns from an inflated to a deflated identity while giving a crackling noise of the typical plastic shopping bags.
The shape of the structure refers to the old fashioned glass tv screen.

Size: 570 x 330 x 310 cm (w x h x d)
Materials: HDPE plastic shopping bags, pvc airtubes, electronics, side channel air pump.
Year: 2015
Location: Whitesboro Str. 350, hosted by SculptureSpace, Utica New York, US.

This project is supported by the Mondriaan Fund and SculptureSpace.
