Research & Design for Student Classroom Behaviour
NID Thesis, Client Qualcomm (sponsored by Texity Systems)
This project focussed on understanding the school children Behaviour Patterns to ensure and enhance better training and sustained learning response.

In many schools most of the learning activities happen in the classroom, where the impact is relative to the student’s behaviour along with other factors. The specific behaviour relating to the student attention and distraction has been researched during this

A distractive behaviour refers to the inattention attribute of a student during a class (instruction activities like lecture, discussion etc) that affects the transfer of knowledge happening at the same moment.

Observational study was done for understanding the Student Classroom Distraction Behaviors for age 13-14 years of class VIII with specific context of Modern School, Pune.
Research and Analysis helped derive various possible solutions for respective student distractions.

Two research outcomes are:

Visionary is a visual aid to creative writing for kids. It has been developed as cards (print) and software interactive tool. Illustration, information, interaction and interface design were done as part of prototyping.

Visionary Cards: These act like flash cards and can be used individually or collaboratively in or outside the classroom.

Visionary Interactive Tool: Interactive Visionary is a software application to provide direction and flexibility to the student. Can be used inside a classroom, computer lab or home PC act as the creative ways of learning.
Age group: 12 years and above

Methodology:

Benefits and Concerns:
Experimentation

Hypothesis: “There is a relationship between the Student Classroom Behaviour (distractions) and the evaluation system in terms of the assessment criteria, hierarchy, methods and feedback.

Goal: To study effect/impact of feedback methods (quantitative and qualitative) on student behaviour (distraction) in classroom environment.

Details:
                             -  Personalized feedback during the classroom.
                             -  Descriptive feedback given afterwards
