My coworkers and I competed in a custom skateboard contest hosted by a local skate shop, 308 Skates. I decided to use my car club buddies materials and learned how to prep, boat flake, candy paint and clear coat a skateboard. This is the same process used when painting vehicles. At the time, I was selling my first car, a 1960 Oldsmobile, and decided to use the project as a tribute referencing colors, motifs found in the car design and the "rocket" engine.
