Los Samanes Mall
Saman Mall 1 is an structure incorporated to the Recreational Area ‘Los Samanes’ into its commercial zone. ‘Los Samanes’, still under construction, is a 700ha public park that provides common spaces to host a variety of activities including fountains, theme parks, artificial beaches, farms and malls as well.
Saman 1 is part of a group of two shopping centers that follow same concept and are mirror images of each other in plan. Both buildings are inscribed into a sequence of circles coming from the main fountain and leading to the sidewalks. A squared volumen works as an outdoor food court on ground floor, while along the curved volumen stores are arranged to provide easy circulation for pedestrian in both ground and 2nd floor. To prevent excessive insolation, the rest of the structure is clad in a composite aluminum skin, which is perforated on the west and east façades.
