Yue Minjun is part of China's Cynical Realism movement and is one of the most exciting modern artists to come out of China. I took his distinct style and decided to showcase it in a hardcover artist catalogue. The book is held together with a belly band and when removed, the viewer is presented with many images of Yue Minjun in his iconic style.

 

This catalogue focuses on the flow and presentation of copy as well as Yue Minjun's artwork itself. A gate fold is presented in the middle of the catalogue to show a seperation between articles and showcasing just artwork. 

 

The book is presented in a 10 inch by 14 inch book to highlight the absurdity and strangeness of Yue Minjun's self portraits. The typography used is also larger than life with extremely big pull quotes and article titles. Blue and Pink are the primary colors used and are derived from the majority of his artworks.
