This poster is a study in abstraction of image through the use of typography. The original image is a residential building with each level stacking in unique ways that extends away from the building at various intervals. The overall effect is a tall standing structure comprised of many different sized boxes that is precariously balanced.
The type chosen is Aiko, which is an extremely stylized contemporary font that is technical and angular. The type arrangement alludes to the characteristics of the building. The strong verticality is accomplished by layering large text underneath at ninety degrees and pointing upwards. Groups of other text are in the foreground and arranged in groups that extend away from the center at various intervals. Clip art, dynamic shapes and lines reinforce the visual hierarchy and groupings. The shapes and type help to define the visual structure of the composition through closure.
