Yut Kee Kopitiam is no stranger to us Kuala Lumpur dwellers, especially among our parents' as this kopitiam has been standing in Jalan Dang Wangi since 1928. This remarkable kopitiam has shifted to another site which is actually just right behind its original shop lot during early June 2014 and has reopened in late August 2014. This new kopitiam is now able to accomodate almost twice the number of patrons as compared to the former place.
No one can escape the infamous roti babi, Hainanese chicken chop, and daily homemade delicious Yut Kee marble cake, and last but not least, homemade kaya ( sweet coconut jam ).

It was my assignment to create a new identity for an existing establishment and I have chosen Yut Kee Kopitiam. One of the reason for re-branding it is partly due to the shifting. The interiors of the kopitiam were designed to look like the former premise and the furnitures like marble tables and wooden chairs, traditional menu boards that existed since the beginning of Yut Kee were brought over, but one could not miss the modern lights hanging from above and other modern items in the kopitiam. As Yut Kee's signboard says in chinese " 鎰記室中西菜馆 “ which means " Yut Kee Chinese and Western Restaurant" , I tried to fuse both Chinese and Western elements into its new design.
Thank You!
