An infographic is an image u can visually see such as timelines, diagrams, pie charts and more to represt data. Infographics are ways to turn an uninteresting topic into an appealing article of data. In my opnion, the type of infographic I think is the best is information design. I prefer that because I like how it represents information really well, such as having one ideal topic and having many facts and points all referring to the main topic to help you better understand the certain topic. For instance, the example of information design I chose is the infographic on “Infographics”. It has multiple facts that further explain the topic which is infographics. What I found really interesting in the information design infographic was the design of the infographic. I absolutely liked how infographic was layed out, such as having the eye containing a pie chart in the middle as the center piece of the infographic and having many other facts surrounding the eye. Having the center piece really puts the whole infographic together. The example of data visualization I chose was the infographic on social media facts & figures for B2B sales, and I found this really interesting for both the content and design. For one I really liked how a city was in the background and also having some of the facts lined up with the buildings, like having the brand names on the buildings makes it look more interesting rather than just having them listed by the corner or in another area. The content it contains such as the timeline about early social networks helps me better understand where social networks all started and also having a lot of data and facts to helps me understand the infographic. What I found interesting in the editorial infographic was the design. I really liked the images that surrounded the entire page because it really captured my attention due to the really bright colours and the pink background. I do not think that the content stayed on topic and there was not enough content provided on the subject. In the editorial graphic, I really think that the imagery is what contributed into making the infographic look interesting. Without the images of different food, the infographic would not have caught my attention. In the infographic on infographics, having the same type of font for all the text contributed in making the infographic look clean & laid out nicely which is why I really like this example of an information design infographic. In my opinion, I really do believe that the design of the infographic does contribute to how I feel the information it provides. Having a well laid out & appealing design attracts more attention to the infographic. If the infographic does not have any design then it would be quite uninteresting to even try to read the information.
