What did you set out to achieve with this design project? The administration panel was how Cotap converted users from free to paid subscribers. My job was to design and maintain a feature set that would become invaluable to users.

 

What decisions did you make that helped you achieve that goal? Keeping projects small. A lot of the features that we wanted to add to the administration panel were complex. Part of my job was deciding how to iterate on features so that we could test an idea before spending a lot of time and effort.

 

What challenges did you have / what made it difficult to design this? Layout constraints were challenging. One of the secondary goals was to design a system that could be used easily on an iPad. This was difficult considering the complexity of some of our features.

 

If you had the opportunity to go back and make a different design decision, what would you change? The layout should be reworked to be accessible on a mobile phone. Originally we planned for the iPad to be the smallest sized device that people would want to use for the administration panel. But over time, I realized that administrators need to access these features on their phone.
