POP-UP SHOP | Cancer Research

Cancer Research UK is a cancer research and awareness charity in the UK. It's aim is to reduce the number of victims by conducting research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

THE BRIEFTo collaborate with students in the fashion studio to create a Pop-Up Shopin aid of Cancer Research UK. Within this we must produce the items being sold, bannersand informative leaflets as well as any other forms of design we desire.Throughout this process we must stick to the brand guidelines set whilst trying tocommunicate the message in a creative and aesthetically pleasing way.
THE CONCEPTThe original concept created by our team was to provoke an emotion withinthe viewer by referring to their childhood in a nostalgic way. This is to show how aschildren and youth you do not think about things such as cancer and illness,so its up to the older generations to make a difference so thattheir children and grand-children can have healthier and better lives.

This then developed to fit the brand guidelines by giving the design amore minimal aesthetic that references the alphabetic charts seen in primary schoolsto add the nostalgic emotions. This is due to the bold, vivid colours and  use of 3D typography to replicate the way a child perceives the world, how everything stands out and seems new and exciting. This piece was inspired by the work of Darren McPherson and Will Miller due to their innovative and inspirational typographic designs.
THE EXECUTIONWe had just under two weeks to design and create a custom fontsuitable for the typographic style. Produce 3D typographic posters, 150 leaflets/donationcards and three 8x3 foot typographic banners. As well as construct and set-up the Pop-Up Shop.

THE IMPACTOver one night the Pop-Up Shop managed to raise over £2,000, and still counting for Cancer Research UK to help fund more researchinto the treatment of cancer.
