imprint urbino

Editorial
How do you live your city? The imprint urbino project was created for and with the inhabitants of Urbino, Italy, with the purpose of increasing the citizen's awareness of the city he lives in.

A guide to this project leads the designer through the participatory performances and practices which should be needed in order to recreate imprint in every city and circumstance.
The guide is divided into two different books: the first is a larger volume that documents the whole research; the second, smaller book is a practical manual, with instructions to bring the imprint project in any other city.
The imprint urbino project has positioned more than thirty QR codes around the city of Urbino. The codes were nodes of the city, created to tell short stories or little curiosities about the places where they were located. People were furthermore asked by the codes to leave their own stories related to the place. The performance was promoted with posters around the city, and the codes were revealed by maps. The nodes were active for thirty days. Almost a hundred stories were collected, to create a new discourse about the city.
After a month an event in the city gave the stories, joined together, back to the citizens. Stories were projected on the walls of the city and simultaneously printed randomly by a thermal printer, in order that everyone could take and read a small bracket of the city's life.
