The main concepts behind the designs:

 

I decided to photograph the burst of a balloon which she is squishing - this is a representation of the way she burst into this new persona, suddenly, over the period of more or less a year. She used to be Hannah Montana on screen, and off screen this ordinary pretty girl. Then she cut all her hair off and got this very rebellious attitude. The colour inside the balloon is specifically pink, because it represents all this pink, girly ideas that was connected to Hannah Montana, that was kept in the whole time, and now she is just bursting out, not holding in anymore, just getting rid of all this pink, girly ideas that was connected to her as person and that could have maybe been holding her back from a career with a different (older) target market. I think she was getting irritated with this alter-ego she had and wanted to get rid of it and show the world that Hannah Montana is not what she wants to be and that she will not be representing this character for the rest of her life. She knew she had to do something dramatic to break free from that "chains" that was actually holding her back.
