'How Oasis's First Album Voiced the Hopes and Dreams of the 90s in the UK'
Alex Niven - Vice
piece
For this brief I was to create an editorial piece for a magazine article found from the culture/lifestyle section of any leading news seller, in this case Vice, and bring it to life through the use of editorial techniques such as typography, layout and imagery.
Straight away I was enticed by the thoughts are writings of the Vice Article by Alex Niven and felt that I could produce a great design response for it.

The article follows the coming up of Oasis, from the working class lifestyles that the Gallagher brothers were living, to the fame, fortune and wealth that they lived after the release of their first album and how they became heroes of the people throughout the 90's in England.
When creating this piece, I wanted to keep many aspects close and relatable towards Oasis, in order for the reader to  relate to the band and the article. To achieve this I used the typeface the band used as the headline, in a large format, in order to strike the audience, as well as a large picture of Noel Gallagher playing his famous Union Flag Epiphone guitar at their Iconic Maine Road gig. As the article goes on throughout its narrative, I made use of imagery to reflect the story. At the start, Noel Gallagher playing to a Manchester crowd in 1996, but on the last page, a well dressed Noel in a luscious landscape surrounded by a gold frame, supporting Niven's claims that the fame and fortune had gotten the best of the Band.
I ensured I also included a number of pull out quotes throughout the article in order to entice readers into the article and to highlight  key topics within the narraitve.
